How did you get started with bodybuilding?
Growing up I was always the “skinny kid”. I was very self conscious and shy. I didn’t play any high school sports because I really was not good at any of them. Senior year of high school, I was 5’10” tall and weighed a whopping 135 lbs. With the help of a good friend we began working out together and made it a consistent part of our lives.
We made each other accountable to be at the gym and pushed each other farther than we could have gone on our own. I wanted to build myself up physically and with the right attitude and desire, that is how I began my bodybuilding journey.

What keeps you motivated?
There are quite a few things that keep me motivated. I am part of an incredible team, Team Zero Gravity coached by Ryan Bentson and we have quite a few star athletes. Since I joined in February 2014 all I wanted to do was win an overall title, get my IFBB Pro card, and stand firm among my talented teammates. I have 2 workout partners that I have been training with for the past few years and they push me every single day in the gym. We help, support, and keep each other motivated.
Although I was never really good at high school sports, I am an incredibly competitive person. That alone helps me get out of bed every morning, do my cardio, kill myself in the gym, and stay accountable to my diet. I believe that if you want to be a champion, you have to work harder than everyone else.
What is your current workout routine?
I train 1 major muscle group per day. Chest, back, delts, and legs. I like to focus on that particular muscle group, lift as heavy as I possibly can (with perfect form), hit all the different angles, and eventually train til failure.

What are your three favourite exercises?
- Dumbbell Shoulder Press
- Dumbbell Incline Chest Press
- Pull-Ups
Competition history:
- 2013 Novice Mr California
- 2014 Mr California Overall Champion
- 2014 Overall Champion at the Tournament of Champions
- 2014 USAs - First in Class C and earned IFBB Pro Card
- 2014 IFBB Titans Grand Prix - 2nd Place
- 2014 IFBB Sacramento Pro - 2nd Place

What is your favourite form of cardio?
I like to mix it up. Stair Master, HIIT inclined treadmill, elliptical, and jumping rope.
What is your diet like?
I practice Flexible Dieting or “IIFYM” but my coach, Ryan Bentson dictates how much I should be consuming. A lot of people think that flexible dieting is all about eating poptarts, donuts, and essentially junk food. Yes, you have the ability to eat anything you want as long as it fits the given range of the allotted macronutrient goals, but it really is just a tracking system for your diet.
It allows me to make adjustments to my protein, fats, and carbs specifically. This is not possible with most cookie cutter “meal plans” out there. Making these types of adjustments are crucial in stepping on stage with the best possible physique.

What supplements do you use?
The top two questions I get asked the most are, “what ab workouts do you do?” and “what supplements do you take?”
To be honest I take the most basic supplements. I believe that most of your nutrition should come from your diet and supplements are just that, they supplement your diet. However, when you are pushing yourself past your limit every single day with exhausting cardio, you will be depleted in some nutrients. I am sponsored by a new company, Hardcore Nutrition that has yet to debut their products.
I take everything in their line of supplements; whey isolate protein, BCAAs, L-Carnitine, and fat burner. Other than that, multi-vitamin, and creatine monohydrate.
