How did you get started with bodybuilding?
My senior year of high school my friends and I all started lifting weights to gain more fighting strength as well as to gain more size for football. As I progressed many started to tell me that I had great genetics to become a bodybuilder.
It wasn’t until the ESPN television show, “American Muscle” discovered me and put me on the map which helped launch the start of my bodybuilding career.
What keeps you motivated?
As I get older, my physique becomes better and better and I start to become more in tune with my body and how to build it more efficiently. I also stay motived when young guys in the gym are baffled at my age and how I’m a machine with my training and still very athletic in the gym and can out train 99% of them all!
What is your current workout routine?
I incorporate a mixture of routines which each last approximately 4 weeks in duration before changing them up. Currently I am on a routine that Kevin Levrone and I put together. It’s a “push – pull” routine. A 3 day routine which consists of a chest, shoulder, tricep day. A back, bicep and trap day. Also quad, ham, calf day.
After day 3 the bodyparts repeat another 3 days, except using a different set of exercises. So every body part is hit two times per week.
If you had to choose only 3 exercises, what would they be and why?
3 exercises which are the more effective are squats, pullups and push ups… I’m all about true body strength using calesthetics!
What is your favourite form of cardio?
My favorite form of cardio is MMA!
What is your diet like?
I stick to a high protein, moderate carb, moderate fats year round.
What supplements do you use?
My staple supplements are pretty simple: hydrolyzed whey, BCAA’s, omega 3,6,9, L-Glutamine.
What is your favourite quote?
“There comes a point in your life when you realize: who matters, who never did, who won’t anymore, and who always will. So don’t worry about people from your past, there’s a reason why they didn’t make it to your future.”
What are your future plans?
To raise my 3 kids to the best of my ability and beyond and to teach them to never give up on their dreams!
