The Olympia weekend is over, and the bodybuilding world got a new champion – Shawn Rhoden.

Shawn Rhoden aka “Flexatron” 43 years of age was not considered as a serious threat to dethroning the 7 time Sandow holder Phil Heath coming into this year’s Olympia.

However, to many spectators’ surprise, Phil Heath wasn’t so dominant as they believed. Instead, a polished and well conditioned Rhoden stepped on stage, and it was clear that Heath was threatened.

Nonetheless, Phil Heath did pack more mass than Flexatron, especially in the back shots, where he also is more detailed.

However, the 43-year-old presented a more balanced X-framed physique and a tighter midsection with excellent abs.

Furthermore, Flexatron’s abs and thighs plus double biceps shots were too hard to beat Heath.

One of the major problems for Heath is stomach which he still can’t control his stomach, especially when he transitions poses, plus that the symmetry could be better.

In the end, Rhoden’s balance and aesthetics led him to become the 14th Mr. Olympia.

Whether Phil Heath will try to win back the Sandow in 2019 is yet to be known.
